A part of the Regional Rail Revival, the Ballarat Line Upgrade was completed in early 2021, delivering extra weekly services across the project for Ballarat and the growing communities along the line.

The project has delivered critical infrastructure needed for new services, including track duplication, passing loops, signalling upgrades, new platforms and extra track at key stations.

The project also delivered a new station at Cobblebank and major upgrades at Rockbank, Ballan, Bacchus Marsh and Wendouree stations.
